Man took puppy while owner was walking the dog in Frick Park, police say

Pittsburgh police seek help in locating Daphne, a missing 4-month-old mixed breed.

A four-month-old dog was taken from its owner while they were walking Tuesday night in Frick Park, Pittsburgh police said.

Daphne, a 4-month-old mixed breed with black and white fur, was reported stolen shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday along the 2000 block of Beechwood Boulevard in Squirrel Hill, according to Public Safety spokesperson Cara Cruz.

The dog’s owner said she was walking Daphne near the Frick Park Environmental Center when a man stopped and began petting the dog. She told police the man picked up the dog, unhooked the leash from its collar, pushed her and ran off with the dog.

Daphne was described as a 20-pound puppy wearing a pink collar. A description of the man was not released.

A man was petting the dog, picked her up, and unhooked her from the leash. He then pushed the owner and ran off with the puppy.
