The Fairfield by Marriott Pittsburgh North/McCandless Crossing hotel was named a Diamond Circle Award Winner in June.

The Diamond Circle Award is the highest award a Marriott hotel can win. Earning the designation means the hotel is in the top 3% of the brand of 1,108 properties.

The award is based on guests’ feedback in terms of overall satisfaction and their likelihood to recommend the hotel.

“It’s pretty prestigious,” said Todd Pifer, the property manager at McCandless Crossing.

The Fairfield by Marriott Pittsburgh North/McCandless Crossing hotel was the only hotel in Pennsylvania to receive the award in 2021.

The site also earned the designation in 2019. Awards were paused in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The 109-room hotel features an indoor pool, a fitness center and a 24-hour business center.

“Our staff sincerely cares about our guests,” said general manager Jay Cruz. “They were thrilled to receive this recognition.”

Pifer credited to the hotel staff for ensuring guests enjoy their stay to earn the good ratings needed to earn the Diamond Circle Award.

“It’s the people,” he said. “The staff that is at the hotel truly know what hospitality is. They truly care.

“They know their guests by first time. The first time through the door, guests feel at home.”

Location also plays a role in the hotel’s success, Pifer said, as it’s about nine minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh.

“It’s an easy drive, and you don’t have to deal with paying to park or anything,” he said.

Plus, the businesses of McCandless Crossing give visitors food and entertainment right outside their hotel rooms.

“You can walk to 13 different restaurants, shop, walk out your backdoor and see a movie,” Pifer said.

The hotel’s success, he said, bolsters those businesses.

Guests can view a display board in the hotel showcasing nearby businesses and their specials.

“It’s a win-win,” Pifer said.
