The Turtle Creek-based Human Services Center Corporation announced Thursday it is now accepting applications for its KOOL Summer Program.

The KOOL program, which stands for Kids Outgoing, Outdoing and Learning, includes educational activities for youth and runs 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Monday through Friday, July 1 to Aug. 14. It will close July 3.

There is a nonrefundable $40 fee to fill out the application, according to its website. The summer program, however, is free and open to all children in first through fifth grade.

Participants do activities in reading and math every day, as well as in computer science, arts and crafts and “experimental seminars provided by local agencies,” according to the website. On Fridays, the participants attend field trips to places like the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, Carnegie Science Center, Heinz History Center, Phipps Conservatory, Boyce Park Wave Pool and others.
