Monroeville Foundation donates clothes, activities to Forbes trauma patients

Forbes Hospital’s trauma unit received a $2,500 donation from the Monroeville Foundation on Friday that helped the hospital stock up on new clothes and activities for trauma patients.

Jesse Miller, a hospital spokesman, said patients often need new clothes after a visit to the trauma unit. When the Monroeville Foundation learned about the need, they donated $2,000 so the hospital could buy clothes to be handed out to patients.

Another $500 was used to purchase items for the hospital’s Volunteer Activity Cart, which included Sudoku games, adult coloring books and colored pencils, word searches and other activities.

“The volunteers take it to patients to provide diversional activities for them while they are in the hospital,” Miller said, adding the hospital is now working to provide an activity cart for all units and make them available 24/7.

The Monroeville Foundation also offered to stock the activity cart and clothes twice a year, Miller said.
