Monroeville singer to perform at women-led Babesburgh on North Shore
A Monroeville singer-songwriter will be among the featured acts at the first-ever Babesburgh celebration on Pittsburgh’s North Shore.
Gabrielle Fike, 22, will perform at 4 p.m. at the June 29 festival, which will feature women-owned or women-led breweries, artists, farmers, health practitioners, performers and more.
“This will be the biggest stage I’ve performed on so far,” said Fike, a Franklin native who recently performed May 31 as part of the Pittsburgh Pride celebration.
Fike has been building her professional career for the past three years, but has been singing and writing her own sings since she was in elementary school.
“I started writing when I was 12 or 13, and I released my first song in 2021,” she said. “I’m still kind of figuring out the kind of music I play. I’m sort of a very chill, mellow pop singer.”
Cat Bruno, founder and executive director for Babesburgh, said the 5-hour festival at Allegheny Landing Park will feature shopping, a variety of local craft beer, wine and cocktails, health screenings, wellness exhibits, meditation sessions, and a variety of fitness classes including yoga and boxing.
In addition to the performers, Babesburgh will also feature local artists’ work along with live art demonstrations. A complete list of participants is at Babesburgh.com.
“This is an exciting, first-of-its-kind opportunity for women to enjoy a day that focuses on their needs, to support other women and most importantly, to have fun,” Bruno said.
Fike said she can’t wait to get onstage.
“Pride was pretty big, but I’m really excited to be in an environment to connect with other talented and passionate women,” she said. “It sounds like my kind of people.”
Fike will perform half-hour set that will include two new original songs she has been working on.
She will also share the stage with the DJ Madame Trio, DJ Femi, a community drum circle and a music-therapy program.
Tickets are $20-$39. For more, see Babesburgh.com.
