Sydney Hicks

A 2017 graduate of Gateway High School who now attends Indiana University of Pennsylvania has been placed on the school’s 2020 Homecoming Crimson Court.

Sydney Hicks of Monroeville gained enough votes from the student body to serve on IUP’s Crimson Court, which highlights students in good academic and judicial standing. To qualify, students must hold a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average.

Homecoming at the school was held virtually because of restrictions in place for the coronavirus pandemic.

Hicks represents the school’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She is a sociology major and is also pursuing a minor in LGBTQIA+ studies. She received the Esko E. Newhill Award for Excellence and an Experience IUP scholarship. On the dean’s list for her academic performance, she is also a member of the International Honor Society for sociology.

She serves as president on the school’s Sociology Club, the marketing president for the Pan-African Student Association and as a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
