A Penn Hills man was charged and arrested for allegedly beating up his pregnant girlfriend and breaking her TV during an argument at her apartment.

Donye K. Sparrow-Felton, 20, “jumped on top of her and began hitting her with a clenched fist, and then began to choke her, before throwing her to the floor and punching her again,” said a Monroeville police officer in a criminal complaint filed against Sparrow-Felton.

The Tribune-Review does not identify alleged victims in assault cases.

The woman told police she was arguing with Sparrow-Felton on May 23 because she did not want him and his friends inside her Monroeville apartment. She said she was standing outside the front door when he jumped her and threw her to the couch in the apartment.

That’s when Sparrow-Felton began punching and choking her, according to the complaint.

He then went into her bedroom and threw her television to the floor and stomped on it, authorities said. When the woman said she was calling the police, Sparrow-Felton allegedly fled in his gray Dodge Avenger.

Police said they searched the area for the car shortly after the incident but were unable to locate it. Court records show Sparrow-Felton was arrested May 27 and was given a non-monetary bond by District Judge Kevin E. Cooper Jr. in Pittsburgh.

The woman refused to seek medical attention for the wounds on her face and neck, police said.

Police charged Sparrow-Felton with strangulation, simple assault and criminal mischief on May 24.

Court records show he is scheduled to appear before District Judge Jeffrey L. Herbst on June 10.
