An Uber driver with four children who was found dead Saturday in a wooded area in Monroeville had been shot, Allegheny County Police said Monday.

Christi Spicuzza, 38, of Turtle Creek, was reported missing by her family Friday night after she did not return home from driving several Uber fares, police said.

Her car was found shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday on Pittsburgh’s Fourth Street, Inspector Michael Peairs said. Authorities discovered her body about three hours later in a wooded area off Rosecrest Drive, about a mile from where the car was discovered.

Police said Spicuzza had been shot once. They did not say where she had been shot or whether any evidence was found at the scene.

The medical examiner’s office had not released a cause and manner of death as of Monday afternoon.

Uber officials said the ride-share company’s public safety team is assisting county homicide detectives with the investigation.

“Our thoughts are with Christi’s family and friends during this difficult time,” the company said in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477).
