Visitors to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville between now and April 3 may pass by what appears to be a wall of medical scrubs that are awaiting their turn in the laundry.

It bears a message of “We See You” in its center, and it is an art installation created with donated scrubs from 90 Allegheny Health Network employees.

“The Art of Caring” is a 5-by-10-foot exhibit bearing the colorful scrubs worn by nurses, radiologists and aides.

The stand was made using a Japanese woodworking technique known as “sashimono,” the assembly of wooden items without the use of nails.

The display is an extension of AHN’s ‘We See You’ campaign which showcases the ways AHN and its caregivers serve, support and “see” people throughout their lives.

“The art installation symbolizes our team’s dedication to bringing their individual area of knowledge and expertise to create a personalized patient experience, ensuring every individual feels valued and understood throughout their health care journey,” said Lynn Kosar, chief nursing officer at Forbes Hospital. “I think it is important for the public to see this so they can have a visual understanding of the team that is here, ready to take care of them when they need us.”

Accompanying the artwork is a video featuring various AHN clinicians and staff members who respond to the question, “If your scrubs could talk, what would they say?”

It will be at Forbes Hospital, 2570 Haymaker Road in Monroeville, through April 3, when it will head to West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood.
