One vehicle was discovered flipped on its side in the 1500 block of Penn Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. Friday, Pittsburgh police said.

The occupant of the flipped vehicle initially refused medical help, but an EMS physician on scene convinced the patient to be transported to the hospital for evaluation, said police.

It’s unclear how many other, if any, vehicles were occupied.

Four vehicles were towed from the scene, said police.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

A crash Thursday afternoon in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood sent one driver to the hospital and injured two others.

First responders were dispatched to a crash scene at the intersection of Boulevard of Allies and McDevitt Place around 2 p.m. Thursday, said Pittsburgh public safety officials.

A driver of one vehicle crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with another vehicle, according to police’s initial investigation.

One driver was transported by medics in critical condition to the hospital, officials said. EMS also transported the two occupants of the other vehicle. The driver was stable, and the passenger suffered a possible broken leg, said officials.

The Boulevard of the Allies was closed in both directions for a period of time near the Birmingham Bridge due to the crash. The road reopened a short time after, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
