Crash on Route 28 causes backups in O’Hara
A crash along Route 28 southbound Monday morning caused traffic backups for several hours, according to 511 Pennsylvania.
The crash was reported around 6:30 a.m. in the area of Exit 8 in O’Hara. The incident was cleared around 8:20 a.m.
Burglary at Bethel Park gun shop
A burglary was reported Monday morning at Allegheny Arms & Gun Works in Bethel Park, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
The glass on the front door of the firearms dealer could be seen shattered in video from the news outlet.
Police were not able to provide information about how many guns were missing, but told reporters at the scene firearms were taken.
The business is on Library Road.
No injuries reported in Shaler fire
A fire marshal is investigating a fire in Shaler early Monday, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
The blaze on Oakwood Street was reported at 2 a.m. Crews were there for about three hours extinguishing the flames.
No injuries were reported.
Man found unresponsive on McKeesport road
A man was found unresponsive Sunday on a McKeesport road, according to Allegheny County Police.
The man was discovered around 1:30 a.m. on Fifth Avenue and taken to a hospital in critical condition. Police did not detail his injuries or release his name.
The county’s homicide detectives are initiating the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-255-8477 (ALL-TIPS).
Police say Ross man shot arrows at them
Police said a Ross man shot arrows at them over the weekend during a standoff at his home, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
Officers were at the Tadmar Avenue home of Daniel J. Thomas, 40, around 4:45 p.m. Saturday attempting to serve a mental health warrant, according to court papers. An officer reported seeing Thomas loading a firearm after 6 p.m., aiming it and pacing.
When contacted by phone by police, he refused to come out, according to court papers. Police called for help from North Hill SRT and Allegheny County Police and a standoff followed for hours until Thomas eventually was taken into custody, investigators said. No injuries were reported.
Thomas had not been arraigned Monday morning on a charge of unlawfully having a firearm.
McKeesport food pantry shuts down
The Intersection Food Pantry has closed, the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank announced Sunday evening.
The pantry, located in McKeesport, was founded in 1973 and became one of the first partners with the Pittsburgh organization, according to a post on social media. The pantry provided assistance with food, small grants for people in emergency situations, transportation and weekly medical checkups, among other help, the food bank said.
