Here are a few morning news items for Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024:

Beaver County officer struck by driver

A Beaver County police officer conducting a traffic stop was struck and injured by a vehicle Monday.

TribLive news partner WTAE reported a New Sewickley Township officer was conducting a traffic stop in Economy borough at the intersection of Route 989 and Freedom-Crider Road around 8:30 p.m. when he was hit.

The driver that struck the officer remained on the scene.

Details on the condition of the police officer were not immediately released, according to WTAE.

It’s unclear if charges have been filed.

Jefferson Hills teen girl reported missing

Police officers in Jefferson Hills are seeking community assistance in locating a 16-year-old girl.

Amira Culligan, of Jefferson Hills, was reported missing Monday, according to a social media post from the Jefferson Hills Police Department.

Culligan is described as a 16-year-old white female that is approximately 5’4” tall and 100 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair that could possibly be died purple or pink, said police.

Police ask that anyone with any information regarding Culligan to contact Jefferson Hills police by calling Allegheny County 911.

Water main break in Hazelwood

A water main break Tuesday morning in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood is causing traffic delays.

TribLive news partner WTAE is reporting that traffic on Second Avenue in Hazelwood is reduced to a single alternating lane because of at least one water main break.

Crews are on the scene to repair the break.

Pittsburgh Water and Service Authority has not yet reported any water service outages in Hazelwood.
