American Airlines expanding Pittsburgh maintenance base
American Airlines will add two dozen new jobs and expand its maintenance base at the Pittsburgh International Airport.
The company announced the expansion Thursday and said it will add 44 new aircraft maintenance jobs to Pittsburgh, according to TribLive news partner WTAE. It’s part of a nationwide 500 job expansion for the airline.
“At this location we do heavy maintenance on our Airbus fleet, and so the type of work that we do primarily here are mid-level, heavy maintenance checks, which lasts around 10 to 15 days, and we’re making a change in 2025 to add a heavier work scope into this facility,” said Greg Emerson, vice president of base maintenance for American Airlines, according to WTAE.
American Airlines currently employs about 300 maintenance technicians at its Pittsburgh base.
