Fayette County pursuit ends in crash

A police pursuit ended with a truck crashing into a post office early Tuesday morning in Fayette County, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

The crash happened at about 1:40 a.m. at the building on Liberty Street in Vanderbilt.

County dispatchers reported no injuries. Police said the driver fled from the scene.

The extent of damage to the building is not clear.

Saxonburg business closed after fire

A Saxonburg daycare is temporarily closed after a fire in the parking lot last week, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

A car parked next to the Learning Village Early Childhood Development Center caught fire Friday and burst into flames, according to the center’s owner.

The facility is on Deer Creek Road.

There were about 21 children inside at the time. No one was reported injured.

The building will be closed at least a week for cleaning.

Pittsburgh park rangers release deer culling report

Pittsburgh’s park rangers have released the 2024-25 report from the city’s deer management program, with 335 deer harvested from five regional parks.

Archery was allowed in all five parks — Frick, Emerald View, Schenley, Riverview and Highland Park — and targeted harvesting was done in Frick and Riverview by USDA officials.

The goal of the program is to reduce the overall population of white tailed deer and cut the number of vehicle-deer collisions, while improving the health of the animals, authorities said.

This program provided more than 37,000 meals to local food pantries this year.
