The first scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Franklin Regional senior who “exemplifies the spirit of community service,” which is not limited to participation in a formal organization but can also be through a person project or activity.

The recipient will receive $500 to assist in furthering their education.

Officials said the initial scholarship commitment will run through 2025, and its scholarship committee is planning annual fund drives to maintain the program.

Applicants must submit an essay describing their service to the community and what inspired it. A letter of recommendation from a Franklin Regional faculty member, identifying a student is in good standing, is also required.
