Co-working business partners with nonprofit to start free educational series

The Penn Township sisters who opened a Murrysville co-working business this spring have partnered with a Pittsburgh nonprofit to begin hosting an educational series for small business owners.

Deb and Sue Cavrak, who opened The Ahfis Creative Coworking in May at the Blue Spruce Shoppes, have partnered with the Idea Foundry to host “The Watercooler Chats” on the second Thursday of each month beginning July 11.

The sessions are free and open to the public, and will focus on topics like marketing through Facebook and Google, navigating business-growth fundraising and maintaining mental health as a freelancer or telecommuter.

“We’re so excited to work with Idea Foundry to bring this event series to The Ahfis,” said Deb Cavrak. “Idea Foundry has helped entrepreneurs grow their businesses for a long time and now we get to pass on some of that knowledge to area residents. Whether you are from Murrysville, Monroeville, Penn Township or anywhere else, all are welcome.”

Sessions will be from 4:30-6 p.m. at The Ahfis, 222 Blue Spruce Way in Murrysville.

“Deb and Sue are really passionate about making sure the events have something for everyone and we are really looking forward to partnering with them to do that,” said Chris Dixon, entrepreneurial program manager at Idea Foundry. “This is just such a cool space and I think a perfect location for something like this.”
