Delmont seeking sponsorships for new Christmas decorations, banners
Delmont residents will see some fresh decorations come Christmas time, and borough officials are hoping local residents and businesses are willing to help pay for them.
Council members will front half the cost of 48 new LED-powered snowflakes, which will take the place of the wreath and candles that have adorned light poles in the borough during the Christmas season.
The borough actively is seeking sponsorships for the snowflakes as well as accompany personalized banners, which are available for $400.
“We have 31 people committed right now,” Mayor Alyce Urban said, adding that thicker material for the banners will cost only $4 more per unit, increasing their durability.
Council agreed to pay for half of the $15,600 cost upfront. Public works head Bill Heaps said he was confident the borough would get its money back through sponsorships.
“We’ll get 48 people,” Heaps said. “They’re lining up.”
Borough officials began looking into new decorations to replace burnt-out light bulbs as well as weather-worn banners.
Anyone wishing to sponsor the decorations can call the borough office at 724-468-4422.
