Murrysville adds 1 final 'Tuesdays at Townsend' concert to finish season
With a massive playground and splash pad opening at Murrysville Community Park this summer, parks and recreation director Carly Greene wanted to make sure residents didn’t forget about the other parks in the municipality.
That’s why Greene is happy to be adding an encore performance to her department’s “Tuesdays at Townsend” concert series at Townsend Park in central Murrysville.
“We’ve seen a lot of visitors at the park who’ve never been there before, and that’s always one of our goals,” Greene said.
Doug Edgell and Kelly Bell will perform an acoustic set at the final performance of the season, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 10.
Greene said the monthly concerts over the summer were a big success.
“There was always a nice mix of people there,” she said. “We had families, friends, children and seniors. People brought blankets and enjoyed themselves.”
The final concert will also include food for purchase from “Eat My Pork” Zips Roasting & BBQ, and beer for sale from New Crescent Brewing.
Greene said Townsend has the perfect atmosphere for the concerts.
“It’s nice and shaded, very pretty and serene,” she said.
