Senior citizen holiday breakfast
The Franklin Regional School District will host a senior citizen holiday breakfast featuring a performance the classic “A Christmas Carol” on Nov. 30.
It will be at the senior high school cafeteria, 3200 School Road in Murrysville, and is open to senior citizens 65 and older from Murrysville, Delmont and Export. Attendees can arrive beginning at 8 a.m. Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m., characters from the play will meet seniors at 9:30 a.m. and the performance will be at 10 a.m.

Upcoming SportZone events
The Murrysville SportZone will host the following fall events:
• Taylor Swift Skate Night will be Nov. 18 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Open to all ages.

Woman’s club meeting
The Murrysville Woman’s Club will met at 11: 15 a.m. Nov. 16 at DeNunzio’s Restaurant in Monroeville.
Lunch will be served at noon and the featured speaker will be Murrysville Community Library staff discussing its programs.

Wellness checks in Delmont
Independence Health System staff will offer wellness checks from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Nov. 29 in Delmont.
The checks include a multi-phase blood analysis and simple diagnostic screening. The cost is $55 and includes detection of problems including anemia, bleeding disorders, electrolyte imbalance, diabetes and heart/kidney/liver/neuromuscular/parathyroid diseases. Participants can also request additional screenings for thyroid disease, diabetes (hemoglobin A1c), vitamin D deficiency or prostate cancer.
Screenings will be at Trinity United Church of Christ, 39 East Pittsburgh St. in Delmont. Appointments can be made by calling 877-771-1234. Walk-ins will not be seen.
‘Monticello Lights’ set for December
Residents in Delmont’s Monticello neighborhood will host their annual “Monticello Lights” fundraiser Dec 9 and 10 to benefit the Salvation Army & WTAE’s Project Bundle Up and the Delmont Recreation Committee.
It will take place from 6-9 p.m. both nights. Visitors can “vote” for their favorite decorating scheme by donating at the box in front of each house. Proceeds will be split between the two charities.

‘A Patriotic Thanksgiving’
The Murrysville Cantata Choir will host its annual concert, “A Patriotic Thanksgiving,” at 4 p.m. Nov. 19.
The concert will be at First Presbyterian Church, 3202 North Hills Road in Murrysville. There is no cost to attend, but donations are welcome.

Upcoming library programs
The Murrysville Community Library will host the following upcoming programs:
• Pressing and Drying Flowers, will take place at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 16. Instructor Bonnie Isaac, botany collection manager at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, will demonstrate how to press, dry and preserve flowers.
• Financial Aid Night, will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 with representatives from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency discussing higher education costs and how to apply for the types of financial aid that are available.
• After School Art will take place at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 27, for children in grades 1-6. The topic will be artist Claude Monet and participants will paint a water lily pond.
• A Medicare information session will take place at 10 a.m. Nov. 30. A session will take place at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 21. The sessions will be hosted by Charles DeAngelis of Bankers Life. No registration is required and the sessions are free to attend.

Foundation seeking grant applications
The Community Foundation of Murrysville, Export and Delmont is accepting applications through Dec. 15 for grants to nonprofit organizations in all three towns.
Grants in the range of several hundred dollars will be awarded to groups demonstrating a need for small sums to make a significant, long-term impact on the local community.
