Municipal cleanup week begins April 25
Murrysville Cleanup Week will take place April 25-30. Residents can receive permit passes to take items to the Valley Landfill, 6015 Pleasant Valley Road, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the week, and from 7-11 a.m. April 30.
Permit passes will be available through April 29 at the reception desk in the Murrysville municipal building, 4100 Sardis Road.
Delmont Visionary Cmte. hosts T-shirt design contest
The Delmont Visionary Committee will host a children’s T-shirt design contest with the theme, “Every Litter Bit Hurts.”
Children ages 14 and under can use five colors of either crayons, markers, color pencils or paint to create a design on an 8-1/2-by-11-inch sheet of paper with their name and phone number on the back.
Entries are due by April 5 and all entrants will receive a free gift. The winning design will be screen-printed on the back of litter clean-up shirts.

Womens’ vendor show set for April 3
Station House 7 in Delmont will host its first-ever women-run small business vendor show from noon to 5 p.m., April 3 at Station House 7, 7 Greensburg Street.
There will be 15 busineses offering a variety of services. The cost is $5 which includes a glass of strawberry lemonade, cookies and sandwiches. Tickets are available at EventBrite.com — enter “Ladies Love Luxury vendor show” in the search box at the top of the website.
Moms in Prayer group meets weekly
The Murrysville-area Moms in Prayer group, a Christian, nondenominational women’s gathering, meets at 1:15 p.m. Thursdays at First Presbyterian Church in Murrysville.
The group prays for students, teachers, administrators, school board members and staff in the surrounding school districts.
There also are plans to start an evening meeting. The church is at 3202 Hills Church Road.

MERC will host meet- the-candidates sessions
The Murrysville Export Republican Committee will host “Meet the Candidates” at 7 p.m. March 30 and April 5 at the Lamplighter in Salem.
Candidates for U.S. Senate, the newly formed 12th Congressional District, Pennsylvania governor and lieutenant governor have been invited to speak.
Refreshments will be provided. There is no cost to attend, but donations will be accepted. Please plan to arrive by 6:30 p.m.

Speaker will discuss hospice vs. palliative care
The “Boomers and Beyond” speaker series at Mother of Sorrows parish in Murrysville will welcome speaker Cheryl Aughton, marketing director at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, to its April 19 session.
Aughton will discuss the differences between hospice and palliative care and the different types of assisted living, skilled nursing and continuing care communities that are available in the region.
The presentation will be at 11:30 a.m. April 19 at the church’s social hall, 4202 Old William Penn Highway in Murrysville.
Sessions are free. Attendees can bring a bag lunch. Beverages are provided.
Easter pet photos being taken at Heritage Trail
The Murrysville Recreation Department will host an Easter pet photos session from 10 a.m. to noon April 9 at the Westmoreland Heritage Trail visitor center on Route 22.
The event is free to attend, but donations to Pet Friends Animal Rescue in Irwin will be requested. Walker’s Pet Ho-Tail staff will provide treat bags for pets while supplies last.

Free fishing tournament planned in Murrysville
The Murrysville-Export Rotary Club’s annual Joey Gombosh Fishing Derby will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 2 at Townsend Park in Murrysville.
The tournament is free for children up to age 15. There is no fee to participate and no fishing license is required.
The park is on Townsend Park Court. The derby will be held at the pond, in the park’s lower area.
Recreation program guide published
The Murrysville Recreation Department has published its annual program guide, which is available online at MurrysvillePA recreation.com.
The guide includes information on spring and summer programs at all of the municipal parks, as well as dates for the summer Tuesdays at Townsend concert series, nature programs and more.
