Murrysville area: Community dinner, 5K color run, benefit golf tournament, more

WSO Hat Luncheon slated for June 11

The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra’s annual Hat Luncheon will take place at 11 a.m. June 11 at the Greensburg Country Club, 309 Pleasant Valley Road in Hempfield.

Tickets are $85 and are available at 724-837-1850 or WestmorelandSymphony.org. All proceeds will benefit the symphony and its educational programs. Sponsorships are available.

The event will include an 11 a.m. champagne reception, lunch at noon, gift baskets, silent auction items and a raffle for a $500 gift certificate from Larrimor’s in Pittsburgh.

‘Colors for a Cause’ 5K color run

The “Colors for a Cause” 5K race/walk will take place at 10 a.m. June 18 at Bushy Run Battlefield, 1253 Bushy Run Road in Penn Township.

Proceeds will benefit Rooted Outreach, a nonprofit working to bring awareness to human trafficking, sexual abuse and assault, and homelessness.

Runners will be blasted with colorful powder as they head toward the finish line. After the race, food and beverage vendors will be on hand along with family-friendly activities.

Registration is $30 at Run SignUp.com/colorsforacause. Runners can pick up race packets from 6-8 p.m. June 17 at Grace Collective Church, 275 Brush Creek Road in Penn Township. Race day check-in starts at 8 a.m.

Community dinner at Newhouse Park

The Delmont Recreation Board will host a June 23 community dinner at Newhouse Park’s Kepple Pavilion.

The dinner will be at 6 p.m. Attendees can order half of a roasted chicken from Bundy’s Smokehouse for $6 (payable to Delmont Recreation by cash or check).

Order forms are available at DelmontBoro.com/events; they must be completed by June 9.

Yard sale will benefit nonprofit Military Connections

Nonprofit Military Connections will hold its annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 4 and 1-4 p.m. June 5 at Living Word of Plum Church, 200 Elicker Road. On June 5 there will be a $5 bag sale.

The sale will feature more than 20 tables of items, with proceeds going to Military Connections’ mission of sending care packages to soldiers stationed overseas.

Donations of gently used goods will be accepted through June 1 by appointment only. Adult clothing and televisions will not be accepted. To schedule an appointment, email militaryconnections@hotmail.com.

Monroeville Christian Church schedules Bible school

Monroeville Christian Church, 3780 Northern Pike, will host vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:15 p.m. June 26 and 7 to 9 p.m. June 27 through 29.

Each night will feature classes for all ages, crafts, recreation and snacks.
