Craft fair at Murrysville library

The Murrysville Community Library will host a May 6 craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It will include handmade jewelry, home decor, candles, wreaths, knitted and crocheted items, wood crafts, coffee, chocolates and more.

Some vendor spaces ($30) are still available. Vendors must bring their own folding table.

‘Chasing Inspiration’ at Murrysville library

The Murrysville Community Library will host local author Klaudyna Grudowski for a seminar titled “Chasing Inspiration,” for tweens and teens on April 22.

Input sought for Delmont transportation plan

The Delmont Visionary Committee is seeking public input from borough residents to develop an active transportation plan.

The plan would improve all modes of transportation including walking, biking and driving. An online community survey and interactive map program can be accessed at DelmontBoro.com.

Input is requested by April 30.

Garden club scholarship applications available

The Murrysville Garden Club is seeking applicants for its annual scholarship program. Applicants must be current or former Franklin Regional seniors with the intention of studying horticulture, landscape architecture, conservation, forestry, botany, agriculture, environmental science or a related field as part of a two- or four-year program.

The deadline to apply is May 12. Applications are available at MurrysvilleGardenClub.com/scholarships.

New martial arts school opens in Murrysville

Premier Martial Arts recently opened in the Maple Commons Plaza on Route 22 in Murrysville.

Owners Greg and Kristi Seese said they offer a variety of training programs and plan to open two more locations in the region, in addition to offering a sensory-friendly class set up for adults with autism and others with sensory issues.

‘Comedy for a Cause’ set for April 29

The “Comedy for a Cause” event to benefit the Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western Pennsylvania will be held at 7 p.m. April 29 in North Huntingdon.

It will include comedians Teresa Logan and Phil Hughes, and will be at Elements, 3000 Commerce Loop in North Huntingdon.

The cost is $50 and includes a 7 p.m dinner buffet, the show at 7:30 p.m. and a dessert table. There will be a cash bar. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

‘Walk a Mile in Their Shoes’ on Westmoreland Heritage Trail

The Franklin Regional Interact Club will host a “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” event from 1-5 p.m. April 16. It will take place at the Roberts Trailhead near Airgas on Route 22.

The afternoon will include a walk on the trail, food, snacks and drinks available to purchase. All proceeds will benefit Refuge for Women Pittsburgh. For more, see RefugeForWomen.org.

The Association of University People’s club for single college graduates will host an April 29 dinner at Napoli Restaurant, 1273 Washington Pike in Bridgeville.

The Symphony East will present an April 17 program of highlights from Franklin Regional Senior High School’s production of “Grease.”

Woman’s club to host art show in Murrysville

The Murrysville Woman’s Club art show will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 21, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 22 at Redstone Highlands, 4951 Cline Hollow Road in Murrysville.

Entries are $5 per piece for adults and $2 for students, up to three entries; forms are due April 14 and can be sent to Lane Neff, 117 Hay Lane, Murrysville, Pa., 15668. Checks can be made out to the Murrysville Woman’s Club. Diane Murray will judge the show.

Girls’ computer camp set for June

Franklin Regional officials will host the “Girls Own Awesome Technology,” or G.O.A.T. camp for girls in grades 6-9 interested in computer science and coding.

Participants can learn Java, Scratch, JavaScript, Python and cyber-security concepts and explore a career in computer science. It will be June 5-9 with sessions running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Franklin Regional Senior High School (Room 227), 3200 School Road in Murrysville.

Library hosts program on straw-bale gardening

The Murrysville library will host the first in a series of Penn State Master Gardener talks on April 25. The topic will be straw bale gardening. Additional programs will take place May 23 (pollinator-friendly gardens) and May 30 (attracting butterflies to your garden).

Learn how to prepare bales and provide a constant fertilizer for growing vegetables, herbs and flowers. It will be at 6:30 p.m. at the library, 4130 Sardis Road. Register at MurrysvilleLibrary.org or by calling 724-327-1102.

Youth Day at North Huntingdon gun club

The White Oak Rod and Gun Club will host its annual Youth Day on June 17 for boys and girls ages 10-18.

The event will include a full day of learning the shooting disciple for an air rifle, .22 pistol and rifle, shotgun, high-powered rifle, black powder rifle and an archery bow.

Participants are asked to wear sturdy shoes. Sandals are not appropriate. A baseball cap is also recommended. All firearms and ammunition will be provided — do not bring your own.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., and the programs will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the club, 600 Skellytown Road in North Huntingdon. Registration is open until June 3.
