Fundraiser for FR boys basketball
Chipotle, located at 4137 William Penn Highway in Murrysville, will host a Nov. 24 fundraiser for the Franklin Regional Boys Basketball Boosters.
From 5-9 p.m., those who bring a flier or tell their cashier they are supporting the fundraiser will have a third of the proceeds go to the boosters organization.

Murrysville Woman’s Club meeting set for Nov. 19
The Murrysville Woman’s Club will meet next at 11:15 a.m., Nov. 19 at the School House Tavern, 2001 Main St., in Penn Township’s Claridge neighborhood.
Lunch will be served at noon, and the featured speaker will be Pittsburgh Zoo photographer Paul Selvaggio.

Glass recycling Dec. 12 in Murrysville
Murrysville and Republic Services officials will host a “pop-up” glass recycling collection day, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Veterans Field parking lot on Sardis Road.
All colors of glass bottles, jars and jugs will be accepted. Caps, lids and labels are acceptable. All containers must be emptied.
The following items will not be accepted: window glass, drinking glasses, dishware, ceramics, mirrors, light bulbs and TVs.
Upcoming public meetings
The following public meetings will take place in the Star’s coverage area in the coming weeks:
• Franklin Regional school board, 7:30 p.m., Nov. 9. Meetings are streamed online at YouTube.com/user/FranklinRegional SD.
• Delmont council, 7 p.m., Nov. 10 at the borough building, 77 Greensburg St.
• Franklin Township Municipal Sanitary Authority, 6 p.m., Nov. 12 at the authority office, 3001 Meadowbrook Road in Murrysville.
Church to host Narcan, Deterra distribution
The Westmoreland County Drug & Alcohol Commission, North Huntingdon EMS Rescue, Sage’s Army and SPHS Behavioral Health will host a Nov. 12 drive-thru distribution for Narcan (naloxone) and Deterra drug deactivation bags.
It will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Calvary Church, 8653 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin.
Instruction on administering Narcan will be provided. There is no cost.
While physicians may prescribe Narcan proactively with opioids to minimize the risk of chemical dependency, it is most frequently used in emergency situations.
Library will hold ‘Back the Blue’ event
The Delmont Public Library will host a “Back the Blue” event to thank local police for their service.
It will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Nov. 13 at the library, 77 Greensburg St. Residents are encouraged to visit, drop off a note or gift or show appreciation in their own way.
For those unable to attend, cards or gifts can be dropped of at the library from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday or Wednesday, or from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m Saturday.
