Franklin Regional band to host breakfast fundraiser
The Franklin Regional Panther Band will host a March 16 pancake breakfast fundraiser in Murrysville.
It will be from 8-11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 3916 Old William Penn Highway in Murrysville.
Tickets are $10 plus a $1.50 processing fee, and are available at Franklin-Regional-Band-Boosters.ticketleap.com. Proceeds will benefit the band’s general fund.
Curbside leaf collection in Murrysville
Murrysville will host a spring leaf collection on April 27. There is a 20-bag limit, and the deadline to sign up is the Thursday prior to the pick-up date.

AAUW program focuses on migratory birds
The American Association of University Women’s Murrysville chapter will host a March 14 talk, “The Plight of Migratory Birds: How Birds Interact with Urban Spaces,” featuring Carnegie Museum Urban Bird Conservation Coordinator Jonathon Rice.
Rice is involved with museum projects like BirdSafe and Lights Out Pittsburgh, studying light pollution and avian collisions with buildings.
It will be at 10 a.m. at the Murrysville Community Library, 4130 Sardis Road. The public is invited to attend.
Delmont library events
• March 16: Pi Day celebration, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with baked goods from local vendors and a celebration of the irrational number with no end and no repeating pattern, typically shortened to 3.14.
• March 21: Fishing knots for beginners, 5-7 p.m. Learn how to tie three simple fishing knots.
Murrysville Clean-Up Week
Murrysville will host its annual clean-up week April 15-19 between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m., and April 20 from 7-11 a.m.
Residents can take items to the Valley Landfill on Pleasant Valley Road. Permits are available at the front office at the Murrysville municipal building at 4100 Sardis Road.
Boundaries program
The Murrysville Community Library will host a March 26 program, “Boundaries 101: Why? How?” at 6 p.m. with licensed professional counselor Andrew King.
King will discuss a definitive and concise idea on how to set healthy boundaries in one’s life and their importance.

Line dancing program
The Murrysville Recreation Department will host a line-dancing class over eight weeks starting March 20. It will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through May 8. Instructor Erica Etzler will introduce popular group dances and some with her own original choreography. No partners or special clothing is required.

Symphony East
Symphony East will kick off its 62nd season March 18 with musicians from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Violinists Regi Papa, violist Marylene Gingras-Roy and cellist Mikhail Istomin will perform at 1 p.m. A $10 donation is requested for adults who attend.
It will take place at the Lamplighter, 6566 William Penn Highway in Salem.

Medic One subscription drive
Murrysville Medic One is hosting its annual subscription drive for families in its service areas of Murrysville, Export, Washington Township and parts of Upper Burrell.
Roughly 30% of residents maintain a subscription to the service, according to Medic One officials.
The nonprofit service operates eight ambulances, four wheelchair vans, two all-terrain vehicles, two boats, seven trailers, an emergency support unit and a dive team.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
The Delmont Volunteer Fire Department will host a March 16 breakfast with the Easter Bunny at the department, 2360 Route 66 in Delmont.
It will be from 9-11 a.m. with the Easter Bunny and children’s games. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-9. Children under 4 are admitted free. Reservations are required by calling 724-689-5591.

Easter drive-thru in Murrysville
Murrysville recreation and library officials will host an Easter drive-thru from 3:30-4:30 p.m. March 27 at the municipal complex at 4100 Sardis Road.
Participants will receive a free treat bag while supplies last, and can greet the Easter Bunny and Yellow Peep characters.

Woman’s club events
• The Murrysville Woman’s Club will host its annual spring fashion show at 10 a.m. March 23.
It will be at the Lamplighter Restaurant, 6566 William Penn Highway in Salem. It will be a breakfast buffet followed by the fashion show, hosted by Marge Predmore.
There will be raffle basket chances for sale. Proceeds will benefit the club’s community projects. Tickets are $30, and are available by calling 412-760-5809.
• The club is also offering at least three non-traditional, $3,000 scholarships for women from Westmoreland County, 21 and older, who are currently enrolled in college or can provide proof of acceptance.
The club has awarded scholarships for four decades to women seeking education and job training.
Applications are available at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Westmoreland County Community College campuses in Youngwood and Murrysville, and the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, along with the Murrysville, Delmont, Greensburg, Hempfield and New Kensington libraries.
The application deadline is April 20.
