Emily Wang, a fifth-grade student at Heritage Elementary School, placed third in the Pennsylvania Council of Financial Literacy’s Stock Market competition.
Wang and other students started with “$100,000” and learned how to invest and trade using stocks, mutual funds, bonds, options, commission fees and other money management tools.
Wang increased her portfolio’s value to $134,770.
Sponsored by California University of Pennsylvania, the stock simulation platform is available to all students in grades 3-12.

Raina Vilsack of Murrysville, and Ryan Beard and Jessica Reabe of Export were named to Westminster College dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester.
Vilsack is pursuing a degree in biology, Beard is pursuing a degree in accounting and Reabe is pursuing a degree in criminal justice studies.

Morgan Dibert of Delmont graduated from the University of Iowa in December.
Dibert earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

Connor Hudson of Murrysville was named to the Presbyterian College dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester.
Hudson is a freshman at the Greenville, S.C., school.

Allison Baughman of Murrysville was named to the West Virginia University dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester.
Baughman is a junior pursuing a degree in forensic science.

Celene Dinzeo and Hannah Flick of Murrysville were named to the President’s List for the fall 2020 semester at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina.
Dinzeo has not yet chosen a major; Flick is pursuing degrees in national security studies and languages, and intercultural studies.

Julia Stein was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio.
Stein is a graduate of Serra Catholic High School.

Lindsay Cummins of Murrysville was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at the University of Delaware.

Tyler Parsonage of Murrysville recently served as sound designer for Slippery Rock University’s virtual production of an original musical comedy, “Making Melrose,” staged in late January.
Parsonage is a sophomore pursuing a theater degree.

Misbah Khalid of Delmont, Maria Cefola, Madison Bortz and Anamta Raza of Export, and Hannah Fierle of Murrysville were named to the fall 2020 dean’s list at Chatham University’s School of Arts, Business & Science.

Jordan Humes of Export was named to the fall 2020 dean’s list at Lock Haven University.
Humes is pursuing a degree in health sciences.

Zachary Snider of Murrysville was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Lebanon Valley College.
Snider is a Franklin Regional graduate and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science.
