Roller derby at Palmer Imaging Arena

The WestCo Roller Derby team will host its third match of the season at 7 p.m. June 24 at Palmer Imaging Arena in Salem.

The team will take on Iron Mountain Roller Derby out of Cumberland, Md.

Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Children under 12 are admitted free. Purchase advance tickets by emailing westcorollerderby@gmail.com.

Palmer Imaging Arena is at 100 Center Ice Drive in Salem.

Vendor spots open for annual Export festival

Vendor spots are still open for the annual Export Ethnic Food & Music Festival, which will be Aug. 19 from noon to 9 p.m. along Washington Avenue.

Vendor applications are available at ExportPennsylvania.com.

Delmont Daze seeks volunteers

An organizing meeting for the 2023 Delmont Daze celebration will be at 9:30 a.m. July 12 at the borough building, 77 Greensburg Street.

Mayor Alyce Urban is seeking volunteers to help coordinate and run the annual one-day community festival, which will be Aug. 5. Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to attend.

Basketball skills camp

A Franklin Regional basketball skills camp for boys in grades 3-8 will take place July 24-27.

Sessions for grades 3-5 will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m.; sessions for grades 6-8 will be from 6-8 p.m.

The cost is $100, payable to “FRBB.” Register by July 1 to receive a t-shirt.

Walking tour of Delmont historic district

As part of the development of its active transportation plan, the Delmont Visionary Committee will join with the Delmont Historical Preservation Society to host a June 24 walking tour in the borough.

It will be at 10 a.m. and leave from Delmont Presbyterian Church at 101 Church Street.

As part of the transportation planning process, the tour will include a discussion of ways to improve pedestrian and wheelchair access in the historic district.

There is no cost to attend.

Upcoming Murrysville library events

The Murrysville Community Library will host the following events in the coming weeks:

• June 16: Be a Ninja, 1 p.m., for kids of all ages. Led by an instructor from True Martial Arts, children will listen to a ninja-themed book and use skills to test their ninja knowledge.

• June 19: Circus Spectacular with O’Ryan the O’Mazing, 1 p.m., for grades 2-6. Students will get an introduction to the circus and clowning skills.

• June 20: Andy Warhol silkscreen printing workshop, 5 p.m., for ages 12-18. Try making a print or tote bag. Wear clothes that can get paint on them.

• June 20: Foodie Friends Trail Mix, 11 a.m., learn about tasty, healthy snacks and make your own trail mix. For children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

• June 28: Alzheimers and brain awareness program, 1 p.m. Parents can learn how to talk with their children about family members experiencing dementia. It will be presented by dementia educator and author of “Sometimes Grandma Doesn’t Know Me,” Doreen Putnam.

Farmers market

The Murrysville Farmers Market will be open from 3-7 p.m. Thursdays through Sept. 28.

The market is in front of Murrysville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 at 3235 Sardis Road.

This year is the market’s 10th anniversary season.

Library exhibition features east-suburb artists

East Suburban Artists League will present an exhibition featuring members’ artwork at the Elaine Biondi Gallery Space in Monroeville Public Library, 4000 Gateway Campus Blvd., from May 26 through June 20.

Most of the artwork will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the nonprofit Friends of the Monroeville Public Library.

The gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed on Sundays.

Acapella group performances

The Murrysville Community Library will host a June 26 performance by acapella group the 3Rivers4.

It will be at 6 p.m. June 26 at the library, 4130 Sardis Road in Murrysville.

Murrysville hosts glass recycling, food collection

Murrysville officials will host a glass recycling and food pantry collection event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 10 in the parking lot at Veterans Field, 4200 Sardis Road.

Volunteers from Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church’s Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry will be on hand to collect nonperishable food items.

All colors of glass bottles, jars and jugs will be accepted. Unacceptable items include window glass, drinking glasses, dishware, ceramics, mirrors, light bulbs and TVs.

Cheer camp

The Franklin Regional Intermediate School will host a mini cheer camp July 5-6 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for students entering kindergarten through sixth grade.

Activities will includes instruction from Franklin Regional coaching staff and cheerleaders on motions, cheers, chants and a dance, with a parent showcase on the last day. Participants will be grouped by age, and those who register by June 15 will receive a t-shirt. Register online at rb.gy/tsgyv

Participants must bring a water bottle and wear tennis shoes and athletic apparel. The cost is $100.

Delmont Diggers to host planting party

The Delmont Diggers group will host a “planting party” to prepare the Delmont library’s summer garden at 5:30 p.m. June 12.

Participants will plant, water and weed the garden to prepare for summer. The program is open to children ages 2-12.
