The most recent data from the state Department of Health shows only two new coronavirus cases in the Murrysville area in the past week.

The health department this week released updated figures for the three ZIP codes that comprise the area. The new cases bring the total to 1,497 in the area since the pandemic started in March 2020.

The largest number, 696, are from residents in the 15668 area, which is strictly Murrysville. That represents one new positive since May 26.

In the 15632 area, which encompasses Export, much of eastern Murrysville and a slice of Washington Township, there were 508 cases — with one new positive reported.

And there have been 295 cases in the 15626 area, which includes Delmont along with small slivers of Murrysville and Salem. That zip code has seen zero new cases in the past two weeks.

Probable cases across the three ZIP codes have numbered 798 since last March.

There have been 7,633 negative test results in those areas, figures show. Of the total tests administered — 9,930 — the region has seen just over 15% come back positive.

That percentage has stayed consistent for more than two months now.

According to the state’s tracking website, in Westmoreland County there have been 23,037 confirmed cases, 11,191 probable cases, 100,149 negative tests and 769 deaths since the outbreak began.
