Bike maintenance event set at library

The Delmont Public Library and Delmont Visionary Committee will host a July 10 bicycle maintenance event at the library’s outdoor learning center.

Featuring a mechanic from the Flat Tire Co. Bike Shop in Greensburg, participants can learn the basics to keep their bicycle tuned up. The cost is a $10 donation to the Delmont Visionary Committee.

School board meetings return to Murrysville council chambers

The Franklin Regional Board of School Directors will return to the council chambers in the Murrysville municipal building for its twice-monthly meetings.

The Aug. 2 and 16 board meetings will be at the building, 4100 Sardis Road. Meetings are broadcast live on Comcast local access Channel 19 and streamed at Murrysville.com.

Library closed for Fourth of July holiday weekend

The Delmont Public Library will be closed from Saturday, July 3, through Monday, July 5, and will reopen at 11 a.m. on July 6.

The Murrysville Community Library will hold regular hours Saturday and Monday, and is always closed on Sundays.

Backyard composting workshop set for July 14

The Pennsylvania Resource Council will host a July 14 backyard composting workshop, and participants can receive a composting bin following the class.

It will be at 7 p.m. on the Zoom platform. Distribution of the bins will take place July 16 at the Murrysville municipal building, 4100 Sardis Road.

The cost is $70 per person. Register online at PRC.org by clicking on “Conservation Workshops” under the “Programs” menu.

Delmont shifts council meetings back to borough building

Delmont officials will move the monthly council meetings back to the borough building, after a few months of holding them at the new Delmont Public Library.

Meetings will take place at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the borough building, 77 Greensburg St.

TOPS group resumes weekly meetings

The Delmont chapter of Taking Off Pounds Sensibly, or TOPS, has resumed weekly meetings at 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Delmont Presbyterian Church, at 101 Church St.

The nonprofit weight support group is open to anyone, and prospective new members are invited to attend a meeting and learn about the program.
