Upcoming Delmont library events
• Enchanted Forest Fun, noon to 1 p.m., April 24 for children ages 3 and older. Hear a story about the Earth, go on a nature scavenger hunt, create your own “enchanted forest” to take home. Participants will also receive a “fairy garden” seed packet to plant at home.
• Community Conversations, 7-8:30 p.m., April 22. Hear about the library’s sustainable features, including solar power, geothermal heating and cooling and electric car chargers, and learn how to make small changes in your power consumption at home. Books from the library’s sustainability collection will be available for loan.
The Delmont Public Library is located at 75 School St.
‘Miles of Smiles’ event seeking charity recipient nominations
The annual “Miles of Smiles” event, a 5K and 1K charity walk organized by nonprofit Serving Other Souls, is accepting recipient applications.
The group is seeking individuals suffering from any form of cancer, and the disease has impacted their ability to financially support their family. The nomination window will remain open until May 1.

“Miles of Smiles” will take place both virtually over Labor Day Weekend and in-person on Labor Day, Sept. 6, at Murrysville Community Park on Wiestertown Road.
Murrysville annual cleanup week set for April 19-24
Murrysville has designated April 19-24 as the annual cleanup week. Residents are permitted to haul items directly to the Pleasant Valley Landfill on Pleasant Valley Road.
A landfill pass can be obtained from the Murrysville municipal building at 4100 Sardis Road. Those requesting a pass must present proof of Murrysville residency and an email address.
In addition, spring leaf collection will take place April 17 and 24. Residents can call Republic Services at 877-788-9400 or 724-907-5466 to schedule leaf pickup (placed in biodegradable leaf bags with no grass clippings, trash, recycling materials or other refuse in the bags) and yard waste, which must be tied into bundles. Twigs and brush cannot exceed 3 inches in diameter and 48 inches in length.
