Members of the Opus 2 Orchestra are gearing up for their winter concert set for Feb. 22 in Trafford.

“An International Affair: Music from Around the World” will begin at 4 p.m. at Christian Life Church, 900 Seventh Street Ext.

It will feature musical styles from different countries including Soon He Newbold’s “Arabian Dreams,” Francis Osentowski’s “Fantasy on a Chinese Theme” and Tchaikovsky’s “Capriccio Italien.”

The orchestra is made up primarily of young musicians living in Pittsburgh’s eastern suburbs, along with adult mentors and co-learners, and adult members of the community.

Opus 2 student members include musicians from the following school districts:

• Franklin Regional: Olivia Bradley-Fricke and Samantha Tabacca

• Gateway: Blaine Austin, Madelynn Smith and Blake Vowler

• Monessen: Gracie Zizis

• Norwin: Austin Hewitt, Abigail Hewitt and Addison Stanley

• Mother of Sorrows School: Victor Ezaru

• Penn-Trafford: Jonathan Judy

• Plum: Mariss Bernardini, Colleen Boatright, Abigail Casey, Andrew Fagen, Allison Klinsky, Justin Muretisch, Dillon Rush and Tommy Zummo

• Serra Catholic: Abigail Bernick

• Ensign Peak Academy: Katie Wheeler

There is no cost to attend, however a voluntary donation at the concert’s conclusion helps support the orchestra’s expenses.

The orchestra also will perform a spring concert on April 18 at Christian Life Church.
