Murrysville Halloween parade canceled

The Rotary Club of Murrysville-Export has officially canceled this year’s Halloween parade due to health and safety concerns associated with the coronavirus pandemic.

Library will host car parade for ‘Queen of Storybooks’

The Murrysville Community Library will recognize retiring children’s services librarian Carol Siefken with an Oct. 24 car parade with a medieval theme celebrating Siefken as “The Queen of Storybooks.”

It will be at 2 p.m. in the library’s parking lot, 4130 Sardis Road in Murrysville.

Children are encouraged to make signs, decorate their cars and dress in costume. The library will also accept written memories and stories about Siefken, along with drawings and photos that will be included in a memory box.

Cards or letters can be sent to the library.

Upcoming public meetings

The following public meetings are scheduled in the Star’s coverage area:

• Murrysville council, 7 p.m., Oct. 21 at the municipal building, 4100 Sardis Road; also streamed live on Comcast public access Channel 19 and via Murrysville.com.

• Franklin Regional school board voting meeting, 7:30 p.m., Oct. 19, streamed live at YouTube.com/user/FranklinRegionalSD.

Library adds to ‘StoryWalk’

Murrysville Community Library staff have installed two additional stories to their “StoryWalk” along the wetlands trail at Murrysville Community Park.

Beginning at the Mayor Dorothy Pack Pavilion across from the park entrance on Wiestertown Road, families can walk along the trail while reading Kevin Lewis’ “The Runaway Pumpkin” and Louise Grieg and Julia Sarda’s “Sweep,” panel by panel.

Murrysville Community Park is at 4056 Wiestertown Road. “StoryWalk” is part of a partnership between the library and the Murrysville Recreation Department.

For more, call the library at 724-327-1102.
