Franklin Park festival

Franklin Park’s Festival in the Park is scheduled for June 29 on the lower fields at Blueberry Hill Park, off Blaine’s Way.

The festival kicks off at 4 p.m. and features inflatable attractions, food trucks, activities, entertainment, a petting zoo, ax throwing, and live music. The night caps off with a fireworks display around 9:30.

Marshall waste collection

A household hazardous-waste collection event for Marshall residents only is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 29 at 465 Knob Road.

Paint/workshop products, automotive products, cleaning products, lawn and garden products, pesticides, every type of battery, every type of light bulb, flammables, and pool chemicals are among the items that will be accepted.

Outdoor concert series

McCandless Crossing is hosting its annual outdoor summer concert series and introduces a new jazz offering on the second Sunday afternoon of each month throughout the summer.

The weekly series runs through Sept. 30 and features local and regional performers in a variety of musical genres. Concerts take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Thursday under the large white canopy tent on the Town Green, between Old Navy and Ethan Allen.

North Hills Community Outreach will hold a food donation drive at concerts on July 11, Aug. 15 and Sept. 12. Northland Public Library volunteers will host children’s activities at concerts on July 18, Aug. 29 and Sept. 16.

Jazz on the Green is from 1 to 3 p.m. each second Sunday through September. For the entire summer concert schedule, visit www.mccandlesscrossing.com.

Inspired Women pay it forward

An Inspired Women Paying It Forward garden party is scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 11 at the Krischke residence, 251 Westvue Road, Pine.

The quarterly meeting of the philanthropic networking group Inspired Women Pittsburgh North Chapter will include acceptance of nominations for nonprofits to benefit women and girls.

Marshall Community Day

Marshall Township Community Day is scheduled for Aug. 24 at Knob Hill Park. The event will start at 4 p.m. and wrap up with Zambelli Fireworks around 9:30.

Democrat meet and greet

McCandless Democrats will host an event featuring candidates, elected officials, local committee members and neighbors from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 2 at Devlin Park, 9955 Grubbs Road.

Memorial butterfly release

The annual Good Samaritan Hospice Butterfly Release is from 2 to 3 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Cranberry Township Community Park Rotary Shelter, 111 Ernie Mashuda Drive.

The event, which is open to the public, is free to attend, with butterflies to be released for $10. Walk-ups are welcome, but registration is encouraged by July 8 to guarantee a butterfly, which celebrates the memory of a loved one.
