Duquesne Light Company crews work at the scene in McCandless where two employees were shocked while replacing a utility pole on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Two Duquesne Light employees were shocked by a power line Wednesday during work in McCandless, officials said.

The employees were working on a utility pole along Brandywine Drive at the time, said Duquesne Light spokeswoman Ashley Macik. Both were taken to the hospital, she said.

Macik said around 30 customers in the immediate area were without power as of about 4 p.m.

She said the utility company has opened an investigation into the incident.

“Our thoughts go out to these employees, their families and their colleagues,” she said.
