A special guest made an appearance midway through Eden Christian Academy’s inaugural Community Day:
The sun.
As youngsters participated in a home run derby as a featured event activity, the school’s newly turfed baseball field lit up with a warm glow that quickly made everyone forget about the earlier cloudy conditions of April 19.
With that, guests were able to more fully enjoy their visit to the Eden’s Upper School on Nicholson Road in Ohio Township, which marked a new experience for many of the students who attend the academy’s preschool and elementary-level programs in Ross, where the administrative offices are located, and at North Way Christian Community in Pine.
Besides the home run derby, kids — adults, too — were able to partake in treats from local businesses and food trucks, while guitarist-vocalist Nick Hoover provided plenty of faith-based music.
Head of school Todd Aiken welcomed everyone by congratulating the Warriors’ baseball team on a stellar 2024 season and announcing an upcoming addition to the Upper School, where enrollment has grown to the point that modular classrooms are necessary for the time being.
And he made sure to thank the organizers — including director of development/alumni relations Anna Aiken, development liaison Melanie Rocha and operations officer Christian Wecker — for a successful first Community Day.
Even without the sunshine, that no doubt would have been the case.
