Following a multipurpose field installation bid that was deemed too high at $1.4 million by North Hills School Board earlier this month, the approval of a new bid has been added to the Oct. 5 committee meeting with acting agenda.

A re-bid was conducted and the board will pursue awarding the bid for the North Hills High School multi-purpose field installation to A. Liberoni, Inc, the lowest bidder at $926,978.35.

The board arrived at that amount by dropping work on a new restroom facility and concession stand for $327,525 and new press box for $245,850. However, those items can be added in the future.

Capital project funds will be used — the capital projects fund accounts for all financial resources to be used for the acquisition or construction of major capital facilities or equipment, according to district director of finance and operations Jerry Muth.

“We were much happier with the new bid as indicated by the fact that we moved it forward and I’m very optimistic that we’ll be able to approve the bid officially at the next board meeting and move forward with the baseball field project,” board president Allison Mathis said.

Several people spoke in favor of the project at the last board meeting, but there were no public comments offered on Sept. 21.

The committee meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at the LGI room at North Hills Middle School.
