A stretch of Sloop Road in McCandless will be closed for nearly three months starting Aug. 15 for stormwater system improvements and paving, according to the Allegheny County Department of Public Works.

The road will be closed between Wittmer and Highland roads through October, according to the county.

There also will be periodic single-lane closures along Highland Road near its intersection with Sloop Road.

Sloop Road traffic will follow a detour using Highland Road, Old Perry Highway, Perry Highway (Route 19), Sewickley-Oakmont Road, Rochester Road and back on to Sloop.

Traffic along Highland will be controlled by flaggers when a lane is closed for work.
