Ross Township will mark the first day of summer and the completion of renovations at Denny Park by participating in an international celebration of music on Friday.
”Make Music Day is a celebration of music around the world that is different from a typical music festival,” said Eloise Peet, the township’s director of parks and recreation. “This event supports everyone from professional musicians to people who have never picked up an instrument. So we’re inviting anyone who wants to take part to bring their instrument to the park to share their music.”
The first 50 people who sign up to perform at the June 21 event will receive a free Make Music gift bag. Brighton Music center in Ross is sponsoring the event and will be on hand to assist with instruments. The shop also will have a variety of fun music making instruments available for purchase.
A pavilion will be available for cover and extension cords will be provided for those who need electric for their gear.
Music will be performed from noon to 4 p.m.
Scheduled to perform are singer, songwriter and guitarist Elias Khouri as well as North Hills High School’s progressive jazz group “Fortissibros” featuring Tyler Workinger and Brianna Johnson.
The Make Music Day Celebration will be followed by a party from 5 to 9 p.m. to celebrate Denny Park’s renovated playground and ball field. Hot dogs, snacks and beverages will be provided.
