Weeding out invasive species topic of Ingomar Garden Club’s upcoming program

Invasive plant species such as Ailanthus altissima, or the Tree of Life, grow throughout Pennsylvania. Introduced from China as an ornamental, the tree produces chemicals in its roots that prevent other plants from growing nearby. The Ingomar Garden Club will host a program on Aug. 7, 2019 about how to deal with invasive plants.

Gardeners interested in learning more about how to control the spread of invasive plants are invited to attend an Aug. 7 program sponsored by the Ingomar Garden Club.

The club’s business meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch. The program titled “Invasive Species Not to Share” will start at 12:15.

The club meets at St. John’s Church, 311 Cumberland Road, McCandless.

Prospective members are invited to attend the free program.
