The Allegheny County Health Department last week ordered the South Side bar Oddballs to close for seven days after it was found violating covid-19 mitigation orders.
Officials observed more than 200 people inside the East Carson Street establishment, according to a Food Safety Assessment Report. There were “too many to count,” the report said. With the current capacity limitations in place, their occupancy should have been around 30 people.
Oddballs was also operating as a nightclub after 11 p.m. and serving alcohol without food, according to the report. There was no social distancing and no masks, the report said.
The restaurant was deemed an “imminent hazard to public health” and was vacated during the health inspection.
The closure was posted on the Allegheny County Health Department’s website on Sept. 5.
The closure is for a minimum of seven days. The owners must submit a covid-19 safety plan and be reinspected before reopening.
The bar’s management could not be reached for comment.
