A 40-year-old man was hit by a driver in Pittsburgh’s Friendship neighborhood Sunday morning.

Pittsburgh Police said a man was hit at the corner of Baum Boulevard and South Graham Street at about 11:35 a.m.

The driver initially left the scene, but then later returned with someone else driving, according to police.

Police said the man was transported by EMS in critical condition with head injuries.

The department’s Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating.

Sunday’s crash marks at least the fifth serious pedestrian collision in the city this year, including two incidents where pedestrians were killed after being hit by drivers.

According to Pittsburgh Department of Mobility and Infrastructure, 21 people died in vehicle crashes on city streets in 2023, including seven pedestrians.
