Assault, child endangerment charges filed against Wilkinsburg man in alleged Penn Hills incident

Charges were filed against a Wilkinsburg man who allegedly assaulted a 15-year-old.
Henry Yates, 56, was charged Oct. 3 after the girl was brought by her mother to the Penn Hills police station to report an alleged incident that happened at a Penn Hills house.
The teen was lying on a couch late at night when Yates joined her, according to court documents.
“(He) walked into the room, laid down beside her and began to touch her underneath her clothing,” a criminal complaint filed against him said.
The complaint said the interaction lasted for about 10 minutes before Yates walked to another room and fell asleep. The teen told police she was frightened.
When police interviewed Yates, the criminal complaint said he admitted to drinking that night while on medication.
“He only remembers details prior to and after the alleged indecent assault,” the criminal complaint said.
Yates faces charges of endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor and indecent assault to a person less than 16 years old.
Yates’ public defender, Domenic J. Pietropaolo, was not immediately available to comment.
Court records show a nonmonetary bail was set Oct. 3. Yates is scheduled to face an Allegheny County court judge on Dec. 26.
