District Court: Drug, DUI charges among those handled in Judge DeLuca’s Penn Hills court Aug. 16 and 23, 2021

Penn Hills District Judge Anthony L. DeLuca handled the following cases recently. Defendants will have court dates set in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court. Charges were filed by Penn Hills police unless otherwise noted.

Held for court

• Chaz Cox, 35, of Pittsburgh on charges of unauthorized use of motor vehicles. Charges were filed April 16.

• William Hicks, 26, of Penn Hills on charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of controlled substances, conspiracy and criminal attempt – possession with intent to deliver. State Attorney General’s Office filed the charges June 23.

• Duane Istik, 41, of Pittsburgh on charges of terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, simple assault, false imprisonment, harassment and strangulation. Verona police filed the charges July 26.

• Tayron Carey, 19, of Wilkinsburg on charges of promoting prostitution, stalking, harassment, two counts of theft by unlawful taking and three counts of simple assault. Verona police filed the charges May 7.

• Paul Paljavcsik, 42, of Verona on charges of endangering the welfare of children, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon, simple assault, possession of controlled substances, harassment and two counts of resisting arrest. Charges were filed Aug. 3.

Waived preliminary hearings

• James Davis Jr., 29, of Penn Hills on charges of indecent exposure. Charges were filed Oct. 18.

• Michelle Harris-Barber, 47, of Pittsburgh on charges of endangering the welfare of children and driving under the influence. Charges were filed April 10.

• Donald Kwiatkowski, 61, of Monroeville on charges of criminal use of a communication facility, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to deliver and two counts of possession of controlled substances. Monroeville police filed the charges June 17.

• Aliya Campano, 27, of North Versailles on charges of driving under the influence, failure to keep right and turning movements and required signals. Verona police filed the charges June 21.

• Yahlynn Taylor, 21, of Verona on charges of terrorristic threats, firearms not to be carried without a license, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, tampering with physical evidence and harassment. Charges were filed July 20.

• Rocky Rodriguez, 35, of Chula Vista, Calif., on charges of firearms not to be carried without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without a license. Wilkins police filed the charges July 27.

• Keith Springs, 51, of Pittsburgh on charges of firearms not to be carried without a license. Charges were filed July 28.

• Jewell Bell, 57, of Penn Hills on charges of careless driving and driving under the influence. Charges were filed May 11.

• Tito Donald, 46, of Verona on charges of driving under the influence and accident involving damage to unattended vehicle or property. Charges were filed June 21.

• Desiree Lapson, 30, of Oakmont on charges of possession of controlled substances, driving under the influence, operating a vehicle without financial responsibility and careless driving. Charges were filed April 2.

• Joseph Jones, 26, of Monroeville on charges of habitual offenders, driving with a suspended license, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a license, operating a vehicle without a valid inspection and evidence of emission inspection. Verona police filed the charges July 12.
