AARP
Plum AARP #3067 will hold its next meeting on June 13 at the American Legion on Saltsburg Road, (rather than at the usual Unity Community Church), beginning at noon. There will be no formal program, just an opportunity to socialize with other members. There will be no meeting in July. However, in August, there will be the annual Summer Social. This year, the social will be an informal lunch at Pugliano’s on Route 286 on Aug. 8. There will be a Build-Your Burger Bar with various toppings, pasta salad, fresh fruit, and desserts, with coffee, tea, and iced tea. Tickets, which cost $21, will be available at the June meeting.
Plum AARP is a social organization open to residents of Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville and surrounding communities. AARP meets monthly, except for July, and usually features a program of either entertainment or a speaker. Newcomers are welcome to stop in at a regular meeting, always held on the second Tuesday of the month at noon at Unity Community Church. For further info, call Mary Lou at 724-327-8265.
Milkweed giveaway
The Penn Hills Monarch and Milkweed Project plant giveaway will take place from 2-4 p.m. June 10 at the Penn Hills Community Garden, 1162 Jefferson Road. In an effort to help reverse the decline of the monarch butterfly population in North America, seedings of butterfly weed and swamp milkweed will be given to Penn Hills residents. For more information, email Barb Meckel at phmmproject@yahoo.com.
Yard sale
The Crescent Hills neighborhood-wide yard sale is set for 9 a.m.-noon June 10. Residents will be doing yard sales on their property and there will be a number of residents selling crafts and other items at the Crescent Hills Community Park, 141 Sycamore Drive. The Crescent Hills community encompasses the area that forms a crescent shape between Frankstown, Saltsburg and Lime Hollow roads. The following streets are participating: Crescent Hills Road, Spring Grove Road, Earlwood Road, Springdale Drive, Sycamore Road, Garlow Drive, Glenfield Drive, Hathaway Court, Wisteria Drive and McCurdy Drive.

An all-ages event sponsored by First Baptist Church and Iglesia Hispana Church of Monroeville will take place from 1-4 p.m. June 11 at 3970 Monroeville Blvd. Live music, games for all ages, a bounce house, food and Kona Ice will be part of the free rain or shine event.
