Fall leaf collection

Penn Hills will collect leaves, garden residue (flowers and plants with no roots attached), and shrubbery and tree trimmings less than a half-inch in diameter (no roots). Paper bags should be placed curbside on Sunday nights prior to the collection dates of Nov. 6, 13, 20 and 27 and Dec. 4. The items can also be dropped off at the compost site by appointment with public works, 412-798-2151.

Trick or treat

Penn Hills and Verona trick or treating will take place from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

PALS to meet Nov. 1

Plum Area Ladies Society will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at Plum Community Center.

The theme for the refreshments and friendship basket is fall harvest. The speaker, Eric Selinger, will present “Rock Talks: Actually, Disco Didn’t Suck.” The service project is filling 150 Christmas stockings for Military Connections, to be sent to active servicemen all over the world. Suggestions for stocking stuffers include candy, crackers, cookies, pretzels, protein bars, beef jerky, Gator­ade powdered envelopes and small batteries.

The Ladies Day Out event will be a Friendship Dinner at John Anthony’s on Nov. 16. More details and sign-up will be available at the meeting.

PALS is a service/social group open to women from Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville and surrounding communities. Newcomers are welcome at the monthly meetings, always held at 6:30 at the Plum Community Center on the first Wednesday of the month September through April. Spaghetti dinner

Rotary Club of Penn Hills is hosting a spaghetti dinner featuring homemade meatballs and sauce by Grazia Tomasino on Nov. 9 at Mt. Hope Church, 12106 Frankstown Road. Dine in or takeout.

Teen Halloween party

A Teen Halloween Party for grades six-12 will be held 5-8 p.m. Oct. 27. Costumes are encouraged.

3 Rivers Psychic Fair

3 Rivers Psychic Fair, now with more than 55 vendors, will be from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Comfort Inn, 699 Rodi Road in Penn Hills.

Workshops will be available ranging from manifesting, authenticity and telepathy. The fairs offer psychic, intuitive and medium readings, Reiki healers, energy healers and holistic and various products. The mission of the fair is to connect, heal and educate.

• Penn Hills council has a nonvoting meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in council chambers at the Penn Hills Government Center.

• Penn Hills zoning hearing board will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 in council chambers at the Penn Hills Government Center.

• Penn Hills planning commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in council chambers at the Penn Hills Government Center.

Meet the candidates

The Penn Hills Democratic Committee will host a Meet the Candidates social at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at Penn Hills Library, where residents can meet the Democratic Party endorsed candidates locally and on the county level ahead of the Nov. 7 election.

Trunk or treat

Hebron Community Center’s Trunk or Treat will be from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 28 at the center at 10460 Frankstown Road in Penn Hills. Admission is free, but spaces need to be reserved to host or sponsor a trunk.
