Offices closed

Penn Hills municipal offices will be closed Nov. 23-24 for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving dinner

Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish is sponsoring a free Thanksgiving dinner for those who otherwise would eat alone on the holiday. Located at 245 Azalea Drive in Monroeville, the church will serve dinner in the Lourdes Center from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. or until the food is gone on Nov. 23.

Fall leaf collection

Penn Hills will collect leaves, garden residue (flowers and plants with no roots attached), and shrubbery and tree trimmings less than a half-inch in diameter (no roots). Paper bags should be placed curbside on Sunday nights prior to the collection dates of Nov. 20 and 27 and Dec. 4. The items can also be dropped off at the compost site by appointment with public works, 412-798-2151.

Holiday light display

Penn Hills will hold a holiday light display at the Penn Hills Government Center from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 30. Drive through the parking lot to see the lights, Santa, Rudolph, the elves and more. Registration is required for a free treat bag for each child by calling 412-798-2147 by Nov. 27. Bring an unopened, unwrapped toy to donate to the Stuff-A-Truck Toy Fundraiser and a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.

Upcoming meetings

• Penn Hills planning commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in council chambers at the Penn Hills Government Center.

Paint & Sip

The Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western PA will host its fourth annual Virtual Holiday Paint & Sip Celebration on Dec. 7. The event will benefit MGA’s free patient support services. For a $50 donation, participants will receive a link to participate, the supplies needed to create a snowflake-inspired painting, and two bottles from Kavic Winery in Carnegie. The paint session will be led by art therapist Kristy Walter. For an additional fee, participants can take part in a Christmas cookie exchange and virtual reindeer races. For more information, or to purchase tickets, email mgaoffice@mgawpa.org or call 412-566-1545.
