Plant sale

The Crescent Hills Park Plant Sale Fundraiser, featuring annuals and a limited number of perennials, will be held from 9 a.m.-noon May 20 at the park, 141 Sycamore Drive in Penn Hills. Cash only. Proceeds benefit the Crescent Hills Community Park.

Meet the candidates

The Penn Hills Democratic Committee will be hosting a meet the candidates coffee/tea social where residents can meet the Democratic Party endorsed candidates locally and on the county level, ahead of the May 16 primary election. The event will take place at 10 a.m. April 29 at Griff’s Grounds Coffee, 1817 Leechburg Road in Penn Hills.

Penn Hills Arbor Day

Join the Penn Hills Shade Tree Commission for the free and family-friendly Penn Hills Arbor Day Celebration at the William McKinley Center, 801 Seventh St. in Verona, from 2-4 p.m. May 6 (rain date May 7). We will plant 15 trees around the new playground, give away native tree and shrub seedlings, have nature crafts for the kids, provide refreshments, give an update on the spotted lanternfly and celebrate Penn Hills being recognized as a Tree City USA for the fourth year in a row. Bring your own chair and a shovel if you want to help plant trees. More information on all upcoming projects is available at PennHillsSTC.org.

Father/daughter dance

The second annual Super Dad Father/Daughter Dance will take place 5-7:30 p.m. May 6 at the Hope Center, 7901 Dollman Road in Penn Hills. Tickets must be purchased by April 20 at eventbrite.com.

PALS

Plum Area Ladies Society is a service /social club open to women from Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville, and surrounding communities. The annual banquet will be held at Jaden’s II from 2-6 p.m. May 13. Newcomers are always welcome at monthly meetings, held at 6:30 at Plum Community Center on the first Wednesday of the month, September through April.
