Nadine Road to close

Beginning at 7 a.m. Oct. 25, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works has announced that Nadine Road will be closed. The closure will last through Nov. 4 and is to repair a storm drain.

Traffic will be detoured using Allegheny River Boulevard (Route 130), Sandy Creek Road (Route 130), Verona Road, and Lincoln Road. Residents who live on Nadine Road will have access to their homes at all times.

Psychic fair

3 Rivers Psychic Fair, the newest psychic fair in Pittsburgh, will be held at the Comfort Inn, 699 Rodi Road in Penn Hills. The first event date is Nov. 5, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Free workshops will be happening from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., on topics ranging from meditation to being yourself.

The fairs offer psychic, intuitive, and medium readings, Reiki healers, energy healers, holistic, and various products. The mission of the fair is to connect, heal and educate. Admission is $5.

Rotary scholarship

The Bob Williams Rotary Memorial Scholarship Program announces the availability of scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year. In recent years, Rotary has awarded at least eight scholarships at $5,000 each. High school seniors in Allegheny and Beaver Counties are eligible to apply. Vocational students, G.E.D students and those attending parochial, charter and private schools are also eligible.

Students must have a 2.5 or higher grade point average and also must complete an essay that highlights their community/school service as part of the application submission.

Books and more fundraiser

Sheep Inc. HealthCare Center will be holding a Books and More Fundraiser Oct 28-30. There will be inspirational books (fiction and non-fiction for children, teens and adults, historical, mystery, suspense, romance, devotionals and more), bibles, stationary, household items, home decor, jewelry, Sarris Chocolate and more. All products (except chocolate) are by suggested donation, and will provide free medical care to people without health insurance. Those who spend $30 or more will be entered into a drawing for a five-pound Sarris Chocolate Bar. Mark your calendar for the following dates and places:

• Oct. 28 from 3-8 p.m. and Oct. 29 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at The Fold Church, 11817 Frankstown Road in Penn Hills.

Newbies quilting class

If you’re new to quilting, or have ever wanted to make a quilt, Quilt Company East Quilting Guild is offering a new opportunity for members and non-members.

This skills-based quilting class will meet once a month to guide beginning quilters — or anyone wanting to brush up on technique and precision — through the basics. Along the way, we will make a small quilt.

Classes are the second Saturday of each month through June at the Monroeville Public Library, lower-­level classroom. Classes are free to members of the guild and $20 for non-members (refundable if you join QCE). Students are responsible for providing their own materials.

Christian art show

The 46th Annual Christian Art Show is Oct. 22-23 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Murrysville. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday. Lunch is available at the Gallery Cafe. Toy drive

Lower Valley Athletic Foundation Christmas Toy Drive runs through the first week of December.

There are donation boxes at Inner Groove Brewing and the Verona borough building, both along East Railroad Avenue. Organizers are looking for new, unopened toys for children of all ages. Toy distribution is expected a week before Christmas. The foundation will reach out to local schools and churches to find families in need. Dungeons and Dragons

Lower Valley Athletic Foundation will host an interactive Dungeons and Dragons event 4 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Verona Fire Hall, 465 Parker St. Participants are encouraged to dress up as medieval characters. They will go through a story will live actors. Cost is $30 per player. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Deadline to register is Oct. 16. Attendees can sign up through the LVAF Facebook page.

Penn Hills High School’s Class of 1973 will celebrate its 50-year reunion from 5 to 11 p.m. Oct. 6, 2023, at Futules Harmar House in Harmarville.
