Lincoln Road to close

Lincoln Road between Oakwood Road/Vine Street and Verona Road in Penn Hills will close at 9 a.m. Aug. 14.

The closure, which is expected to end in November, is required for rehabilitation of Sandy Creek Bridge No. 7, including new pavement, scour protection, pavement markings and guardrails.

Cars will be detoured using Vine Street, Aber Road and Verona Road, and trucks will be detoured using Nadine Road, Allegheny River Boulevard, Sandy Creek Road and Verona Road. Residents living near the closure area will have access to their homes at all times.

Zoning hearing board meeting

Penn Hills zoning hearing board will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 in the Penn Hills Government Center council chambers, 102 Duff Road.

Properties on the agenda are on Swan Drive, Harvest Drive and Rose Avenue. The Harvest Drive and Rose Avenue owners are requesting a special exemption for the possession and keeping of four chickens for egg production and as pets.

Penn Hills Library

The library is reorganizing its adult collection. There will be signs in the library to help patrons find what they need, but they can also seek assistance from a librarian.

Aug. 26 is Nintendo Day at the library. From 1-3 p.m., guests can participate in game tournaments, make their own Nintendo swag and enjoy free ice cream. This is an all ages program.
