Mental Wellness & Suicide Prevention Day

SAFE Task Force and Penn Hills School District are teaming up for Mental Wellness & Suicide PRevention Day, 1-4:30 p.m. May 7. The free community event will take place at Penn Hills High School and feature a panel discussion with former University of Pittsburgh football player Tre Tipton, a free lunch, artwork and soul line dancing.

Penn Hills Shade Tree Commission

In celebration of Arbor Day, the Penn Hills Shade Tree Commission and volunteers will be planting trees and fencing them from the deer in Turner Friendship Park, 1340 Hunter Road, from 2-4 p.m. May 7. Water, coffee and donuts will be provided. Please join us and bring a shovel! Rain date is May 14.

Freemasonry history program

A lecture on the history of Freemasonry and the profound influence it has had on local places, names and customs, from the French and Indian War to our modern-day – including in Penn Hills – will take place at 7 p.m. May 6 at Penn Hills Masonic Center on Saltsburg Road. After the lecture, attendees are welcome to get a tour of the lodge room.
