Upcoming meetings
Penn Hills council will meet at 7 p.m. July 18.
The library board will meet at 7 p.m. July 26.
A zoning board hearing meeting will be at 7 p.m. July 27, and a planning commission meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. July 28.
Social hour
Verona Community Garden, located at 246 W. Railroad Ave., holds social hours from 6-8 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of the month. For more information, visit veronaborough.org.
Family fun night scheduled
A free family fun night is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. July 15 at Penn Hills Alliance Church, 7605 Saltsburg Road.Featured are games, food, movies, crafts and a bounce house. Sign up at signup.com/go/gqctZwp or call 412-795-1818.
Toy donations
Verona Volunteer Fire Company’s Christmas in July toy drive will be accepting donations from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 16 and 23. On July 30, the VFC will host its first ever Fire Department Open House and Spaghetti Dinner from 4-7 p.m. Toy donations will also be accepted at that time. Toys should be new and unwrapped. Church of the Brethren hosts Bible study
Monroeville Church of the Brethren is hosting a ladies’ Bible study program at 6 p.m. Tuesdays in the sanctuary of the church, 481 Center Road.
The program is titled “Living in God’s Presence — Tracing the Temple Motif Through the Bible.” For more information, contact Sandy Ritchey at slritchey54@gmail.com. She will reply with a PDF with lesson materials for study.
Penn Hills High School 50th reunion
Penn Hills High School’s class of 1973 will celebrate their 50-year class reunion on Oct. 6, 2023, from 5-11 p.m. at Futules Harmar House in Harmarville. Movies in the Park
Penn Hills will host Movies in the Park this summer. Admission is free, and free snacks will be provided by Rolling Hills Church. For more information, call 412-798-2147. The schedule is as follows:
